 IRELAND
IRELAND: also known as the Republic of Ireland sovereign state in north-western Europe occupying 26 of 32 counties of the island of Ireland. The capital and largest city is Dublin, which is located on the eastern part of the island, and whose metropolitan area is home to around a third of the country's 4.75 million inhabitants. The state shares its only land border with Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom. It is otherwise surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the Celtic Sea to the south, Saint George's Channel. The currency is the euro.
Flag:  The flag itself is a vertical tricolour of green, white and orange.


The most important cities of Ireland are:


-Cork:  is a university city in south-west Ireland, in the province of Munster, which had a population of 125,622 in 2016 The city is situated on the River Lee which splits into two channels at the western end and divides the city centre into islands.


-Waterford: is a city in Ireland. It is in County Waterford in the south east of Ireland and is part of the province of Munster. The city is situated at the head of Waterford Harbour. It is the oldest and the fifth most populous city in the Republic of Ireland.


MacGillycuddy's Reeks: is a mountain range in County Kerry, Ireland. Stretching slightly over 19 kilometres (12 miles), it includes the highest peaks in Ireland and the only peaks on the island that are over 1,000 metres (3,300 feet).


RIVERS:
The longest river in Ireland is the River Shannon, at 360.5 kilometres (224.0 mi). The river develops into three lakes along its course, Lough AllenLough Ree and Lough Derg. Of these, Lough Derg is the largest.


Animals:


Puffin, Grey seal, Common dolphin, Red Deer, Red Fox, Minke whale, White-tailed eagle and Otter.


Places to visit:


Cob´s cathedral: In 1192, John Comyn, first Anglo-Norman Archbishop of Dublin, elevated one of the four Dublin Celtic parish churches, this one dedicated to Saint Patrick, beside a holy well of the same name and on an island between two branches of the River Poddle, to the status of a collegiate church, i.e.


IMPORTANT MONUMENT: The Titanic Memorial in Belfast was erected to commemorate the lives lost in the sinking of the RMS Titanic on 15 April 1912. It was funded by contributions from the public, shipyard workers, and victims' families, and was dedicated in June 1920. It sits on Donegall Square in central Belfast in the grounds of Belfast City Hall.
Sport:


Gaelic football and hurling are the traditional sports of Ireland as well as most popular spectator sports. They are administered by the Gaelic Athletics Association on an all-Ireland basis. Other Gaelic games organised by the association include Gaelic handball and rounders.
Soccer is the third most popular spectator sport and has the highest level of participation. Although the League of Ireland is the national league, the English Premier League is the most popular among the public. The Republic of Ireland national football team plays at international level and is administered by the Football Association of Ireland.

FAMOUS PEOPLE:


Conor Anthony McGregor (born 14 July 1988) is an Irish professional mixed martial artist and boxer.


McGregor is the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion and former featherweight champion. McGregor has also competed as a welterweight in mixed martial arts (MMA), and light middleweight in boxing. McGregor is 2nd on the UFC's pound for pound rankings.


McGregor is the only fighter to be champion in two UFC divisions simultaneously: he defeated long time featherweight champion José Aldo at UFC 194 in 13 seconds, which is the fastest UFC title fight victory, and won the UFC lightweight belt against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.


McGregor began his professional boxing career in 2017. In his debut boxing match, he was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. via technical knockout.
